A Reverend Minister has appealed to politicians in Ghana not to take for granted revolts sweeping across parts of Africa, especially North Africa. He said it was becoming evident that the youth of Africa could no longer tolerate the flamboyance, arrogance and lavish spending by politicians and their relatives. Rev. Samuel Agyei, National President of the Christian Friends of Democracy, told the GNA in an interview that it was high time politicians in Ghana learnt lessons and be cautious in their demand for financial rewards from the state. He appealed to politicians to start thinking about how to address youth unemployment and the improvement in the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian. Rev. Agyei appealed to religious leaders, traditional authorities and all well-meaning Ghanaians to keep reminding politicians of their responsibility to help save Ghana from the challenges "hovering" around the country. He advised the youth to refuse to allow themselves to be pushed by politicians to take entrenched positions on issues and fight over trivial matters. Rev. Agyei said at the end of it all, all that "we have is Ghana and we have to protect it against all odds". He commended President John Atta Mills for the invitation extended to former President John Agyekum Kufuor to the Castle. He said Ghanaians were looking forward to the day when President Mills would extend invitations to both former President Jerry John Rawlings and former President Kufuor for the three to sit together to discuss national issues.
