Black Stars deputy captain, Andre Ayew, has urged his teammates to win Ghana’s crunch tie against Egypt in honor of departed coach E.K Afranie who lost his life in a tragic accident.
The coach who was battling mild stroke was involved in an accident en route to being transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
His demise has caused shock waves among the football fraternity, chief amongst them the Black Stars team currently camping in Dubai.
And with a few days to their big day in Alexandria, Ayew is hoping to win for the departed coach.
"It's a sad news and we send our condolences to the entire family," Ayew said.
"Coach Afranie is a big coach whose demise means Ghana has lost a great person. He qualified the Black Queens to our first ever senior World Cup.
"He has coached all our national teams and that is an enviable achievement. He also coached all the big clubs in Ghana including Kotoko and Hearts. We are really sad and we express our condolences to the entire family and will try to win the game in his honor, "he added.
Ghana will be leaving Dubai for Egypt in the coming days.
