A Fine Art student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who works as a make-up artiste in the Kumawood is advocating for an umbrella association for the industry.
Marfoa Acheampong believes it will regulate and guide the booming industry to provide gainful employment for the youth and graduates in Fine Art.
Acheampong who creates villains, princes and princesses with her brush says this will also give hope to those studying Fine Art as they would have others to look up to.
Based in Kumasi, she contributes to the movie industry by adding a professional touch to the dramatic look and appearance of many actors like Kofi Adjololo, Jackie Appiah, Nana Ama McBrown, Naana Hayford and many others.

Her efforts were recognised when she received nominations for the 1st Edition of NAFCA awards (Nollywood and African Film Critics' Awards - USA) and the 5th Edition of the Ghana Movie Awards (GMA).
“Winning the best makeup artist prize during the 1st Edition of the Kumawood Awards, in the Best Makeup Artist Category, therefore, came as no surprise.
“I can expertly enhance, correct, disguise, and cause dramatic changes to clients and the ladies, especially, love me for that,” she told Luv News.
When she is not on set Acheampong spends time making her bride clients beautiful.
“Concentrating on bridal makeup for the past 4 years, I have succeeded in putting smiles and satisfaction on the faces of over 200 brides across the country on their special days,” she said.

Although more brand names in the make-up industry continue to flood the markets fuelling a booming industry for many dealers in facial and body art, Acheampong notes, “this provides an avenue for more graduates to branch into the industry."
"It calls for an umbrella organization for make-up artists to guide, regulate and create international opportunities for the youth,” she added.
Influenced by requests by corporate, women and brides, for an exclusive make-up haven to focus on exclusive body finish for special occasions, Acheampong has opened this plush make-up studio.
“Touch Make-up Artistry provide training in how to look corporate, training in professional makeup, give consultation services on make-up and we have provided this serene atmosphere so you can walk in and enjoy a touch,” she says.
