Telecommunications giant Vodafone Ghana has launched a revolutionary health show christened ‘Healthline’ which is expected to bring health information to millions of Ghanaians nationwide in an effort to educate and empower the public.According to Vodafone, the show will employ the services of qualified medical experts who will give health advice pertinent to Ghanaians in all ten regions of the country.Members of the public have therefore been invited to send a text or leave a short voice message about issues on health that bother them to shortcode 2011. These questions would be dealt with by a panel of specialist doctors on the TV and radio show – Healthline -, which would be aired on major TV stations later on this year. The team of specialist doctors will include a paediatrician, a gynaecologist, a general practitioner and a dermatologist. The TV programme will focus on educating the public on health issues and will seek to demystify health related issues and practices. The show will also treat patients who need life-saving medical treatment but cannot afford it and track their recovery.Carmen Bruce-Annan, Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone said “Vodafone wants to make a positive and lasting change in Ghana. We’ve embarked on this initiative because we want to change people’s approach to issues concerning their health by empowering Ghanaians with knowledge and information about health issues."Let’s not forget that 30% of Vodafone Ghana is owned by Ghanaians so we are truly passionate about giving back to society. I urge people to use the shortcode to text or call with their health concerns so that our team of medical specialists will address them in either the TV or radio show,” she said at the launch Monday. The radio show will be broadcast in English and Twi.Source: Myjoyonline.com
