The Eastern regional Minister, Dr. Kwasi Akyem Appiah-Kubi has said his recent remarks about some journalists do not cover all journalists in the country.
Dr. Appiah-Kubi explained he only used such words as “crazy and stupid” which in his estimation does not amount to insult. Dr. Appiah-Kubi said these when Asempa News reached him on phone to find out what his response about the call by the E/R Ghana Journalists Association's request for an apology.
He declined to speak on air saying, his comments were not about the whole of journalists in Ghana but just two journalists in the Eastern region whom he will not name.
He added that those two journalists have even come to his office to apologize to him.
Dr. Appaih-Kubi stated that, he does not see why he cannot discipline some wayward journalists among the press corps in the region.
The Eastern Regional Branch of the GJA had in a press statement signed by the regional secretary Ms Bertha Badu-Agyei condemned the conduct of the Regional Minister Dr Apea-Kubi for unwarranted verbal attacks on the media in the region.
The Association therefore demanded an apology from the regional minister to create an atmosphere for reconciliation and good working relationship between his high office and the members of the press not only in the region but the whole country.
