The Department of Community Development is accusing government of showing little commitment to improving the life of rural people.
The department which is under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is mandated to promote community development.
It is also responsible for adult education and skills training to make rural folks self-reliant.
Director for the department, Théoden Tando, says the sector has been ineffective over the years due to excessive cuts and delay of its budgetary allocations.
He says the department has for the past five years running without the needed funds from stakeholders.
Mr. Tando was speaking at the 28th graduation ceremony of the Rural Development College at Kwaso, near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
The college was established in 1983 to train students to acquire employable skills.
The Principal, Johnson Kwabena Bonye, called on government and other stakeholders to assist the college to achieve its core objectives.
