A pressure group, the Forum for Governance and Justice has called on the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Woode, to stop what it describes as the wanton victimization of four lawyers who made comments about the perceived corruption in the Judiciary.
The four lawyers Dr. Raymond Atuguba, Abraham Amaliba, David Annan and Larry Bimi, have been prevented from representing their clients as a result of a decision by the Association of Magistrates and Judges to boycott cases involving the Lawyers in question for making comments related to corruption in the Judiciary.
A petition released Thursday by the Forum and copied to Asempa News is also asking the Chief Justice to encourage the Judicial Council to set up an independent enquiry inviting members of the public to submit complaints about corruption within the Judiciary.
The Forum for Governance and Justice is a grouping of like-minded persons committed to influencing the growth of our democratic culture, social transformation and the delivery of justice.
The Forum intends to harness the expertise, experience and principled positions of its members to think through matters that bother on governance, human rights and respect for the rule of law.
The Forum for Governance and Justice is a non-partisan, non-religious, non-governmental and non-profit organisation whose mission is to promote and protect the right of the citizenry to justice and to improve governance in Ghana.
