Popular media personality and radio broadcaster, Lexis Bill, joined 150 Unilever Ghana employees and families, for an educational walk up the Aburi hills to raise awareness for World Oral Health Day.
The entire course of the walk was filled with Oral health tips provided by the Ghana Dental Association. Walkers began the journey by walking through a bad mouth arch and ended by coming out of a good mouth arch after which they engaged in an aerobics session led by celebrity trainer Cosmos, owner of Kabatone fitness centre in Accra.
The fit and athletic looking Lexis easily completed the 12.6km walk while chit chatting with Unilever employees and their families. Lexis, a broadcaster and known campaigner for healthy lifestyle, has been using his star appeal to promote healthy living for a while now.
The walk was organized by Unilever’s Oral brand team to raise awareness for World Oral health day, celebrated on March 20th every year.
World Oral Health day, which falls on March 20th every year, is celebrated globally to raise awareness for oral health.
In Ghana, World Oral Health is celebrated by Ghana's favorite oral care brand, Pepsodent, together with Ghana Dental Association, Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, Ghana education service, Chiefs and opinion leaders, several international partners, and NGOs.
Pepsodent is Unilever's flagship brand with a long history of running programs with school children.
This year's celebration was on the theme Live Mouth Smart, and it witnessed the launch of LittleBrush Big Brush, a new Pepsodent Facebook campaign to make brushing fun for the entire family.
The Aburi hills have become an exercise destination for urban youth and families seeking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. According to a Daily Graphic article, people see the area as an open gym.
An estimated 3000 people walked up the hills and were reached by the message of brushing twice daily.
