The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) has commiserated with the families of those affected in last Sunday's disaster at the Kintampo Waterfall in Brog Ahafo region.
In a statement signed by the Chief Executive of the Authority, Charles Abugre said they were "saddened by the news of about 19 students perishing at the Kintampo Waterfalls which is situated within the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone( NSEZ)."
"We have identified the Kintampo waterfalls and the Fuller Falls respectively as great tourist sites with massive economic potential, hence we have initiated discussions with investors as well as chiefs and people regarding the development of the site," the Authority said.
According to the Authority, the "tragedy has also strengthened our conviction that we need to quickly accelerate the transformational development agenda for not only these two sites but for all tourist sites within the NSEZ."

The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) was saddened by the news of about 19 students perishing at the Kintampo Waterfalls which is situated within the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone( NSEZ).
Our hearts go out to the bereaved families. We also wish all those on admission at the various hospitals a speedy recovery.
Indeed Kintampo was in the year 2016, celebrated by SADA and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture during the observance of the World Tourism Day in the area, which attracted both foreign and Ghanaian nationals to patronize the scenic and breath-taking Kintampo waterfalls during the event.
We have identified the Kintampo Waterfalls and the Fuller Falls respectively as great tourist sites with massive economic potential, hence we have initiated discussions with investors as well as chiefs and people regarding the development of the site.
It is, therefore, tragic that such news should come from one of these tourist sites. This tragedy has also strengthened our conviction that we need to quickly accelerate the transformational development agenda for not only these two sites but for all tourist sites within the NSEZ.
SADA will continue its transformational agenda within the NSEZ to ensure that it is a place of opportunity, free from poverty and tragic news such as this.
Once again our hearts go out to the bereaved families and the Chiefs and people of Kintampo.
