Hiplife musician Mzbel has revealed that she had to take a short break from the media to reflect on her life after an attack in Belgium.
On December 26, last year, at an ‘All White Party’ in Belgium, Mzbel was pelted with an egg by an angry woman from the crowd for ‘insulting’ the then New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2016 campaign period.
The songstress was entangled in a lot of controversies after she endorsed John Dramani Mahama, the 2016 presidential candidate the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview with Joy News’ MzGee, the ‘16 Years’ hitmaker stated that she’s a grown mother and wants to look matured in all her doings.
“At a certain age, change comes naturally. You don’t need anybody to tell you okay you don’t need to do this anymore. Some people will continue to do it even at 40 but I don’t feel like it suits me anymore.
"It’s for teenagers and I’m grown, I’m a mother now so the style has to change and ill like to look more matured now,” she said.
She confirmed rumours that she took a break to reflect on her life adding, "after I performed in Belgium and came back, it was too much so I didn’t want to come and continue like that.
"I needed to stay out of the media although I was in the studio recording and shooting videos, but I just didn't put them out.”
“I sat back and asked myself that this time around when I come, how should I go about it, should it be the same way, should I consider some of the things that people are saying?
"I did reflect. I will be very careful with my choice of words and I’m not going to change my image or everything entirely,” Mzbel explained.
The controversial musician, who has a new single, ‘Slowly’, disclosed that her post-election experience has taught her to be more circumspect with her utterances and deeds.
“During the election time, I may have mocked some people and I thought it wasn’t a big deal but people took it serious to the extent that when I went to Belgium, somebody came and threw an egg at me on stage.
"This time around, before I mock anyone I will make sure it I am not hurting anyone. I will be myself but I’ll be careful with what I put out most of the time,” she noted.
Recently, media personality Afia Schwarzenegger via a Facebook live video asked Mzbel, Delay and all those she has offended to forgive her.
Reacting to that, Mzbel said; “She didn’t ask for my forgiveness. I heard that she posted something on her page but she didn’t come asking me, she didn’t tag me, she didn’t mention me plus, there’s nothing to forgive.
"Forgiveness comes from God, you have to sin for God to forgive you. For humans, I hear but I ignore because I hear things all the time and most of the time, they are not even true so I ignored it.”
