The Appeals Court has adjourned indefinitely the hearing of an appeal by the state against the High Court's ruling in the case of former Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani, who also served as the Chairman of the planning committee of Ghana's 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations and Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Ghana@50 Secretariat, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey over willfully causing financial loss charges. The Attorney General is appealing against the decision of the High Court to set the two free. Joy News’ Sammy Darko who was in court reported that the case was adjourned because one of the respondents, Mr Kwadwo Mpiani had not been served with appeal processes. The Appeals Court decided it was necessary to have the respondents attend court at the same time since they faced trial together. The High Court discharged the two from the charges of wilfully causing financial loss to the state on the grounds that the findings of a commission of enquiry could not be used to prosecute them, or anyone.
