The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has congratulated the government on its amicable resolution of the protracted legal battle with the EO Group, a partner of KOSMOS Energy from the US.A statement jointly signed by four leading members of the group, Messrs Kwabena Bomfeh, Arnold Boateng, Davis Opoku Ansah and Henry Asante, said: “AFAG wishes to state in principle that government has shown a high sense of responsibility which enhances the confidence of indigenous businessmen and the private sector at large.” It pointed out that this would boost entrepreneurship which would help grow the energy sector, and urged the government to encourage other entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy. “AFAG, however, urges government to eschew political high-handedness as a means of achieving economic goals. Rather, government should open up avenues for all and sundry to propel the nation forward. This notwithstanding, government should see to the prudent and effective maximisation of revenues from the oil discovery,” the statement added.In a related development, AFAG has saluted Ms Lauretta Lamptey on her appointment as the new Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).“We urge her to continue in the struggle to better the lots of Ghanaians.
