Mr Simon N.K. Tette, National President of the Presbyters Union of the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, Ghana, has expressed worry about a steady drift from spiritual to emotional worship in most Churches.
"We only sing, drum and dance with much noise-making and make ourselves good, consumed with appearances, fun and fashion," he said.
Mr Tette was addressing the 13th Annual delegates' conference of the Association at the Breman Village at Akoepe near Ho.
He said for many worshippers, the sermons were secondary matter, which made little impact on their Christian life.
Mr Tette said the Church must maintain its uniqueness as an institution of education that transforms the minds and lives of the human being into truth and righteousness.
He called on presbyters of the various churches to brace up for a crusade to "transform the minds and lives of members".
Mr Tette said presbyters should not limit their scope of influence within the church, but they must expand it to matters of the state, including governance, the environment, education and culture.
"We shall also be held accountable for failure to tell the truth and insist on the manifestation of the truth and righteousness within those areas," he stated.
A total of 90 delegates from nine presbyteries of the Church attended the conference, which discussed the churches financial situation.
