To help bolster good neighborliness, there is need to revive the spirit of the Ghanaian hospitality, which used to be the hallmark of the nation, Presbyterian Church Moderator Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso has said.
He said although Ghanaians might be living in difficult times and the cost of living is high, these should not deter Christians from showing love and compassion to one another when it matters.
Rev Dr Frimpong Manso said this in a thanksgiving sermon at New Fadama Presby Church in Accra to commemorate its 25th anniversary celebrations.
He held that Ghanaians have become so much self-centred that they forgot about the well being of their neighbours.
"Where is our cherished value of hospitality which we used to be proud of? These days all these seem to be a thing of the past," he reiterated and called on Christians not to give up in times of difficulty. Rather, they should persist in prayers as stated in the Bible.
Rev. Frimpong Manso said the nation could be healed of its challenges such as the current energy crisis, poverty, immorality and reported cases of murder through consistent prayers and a good lifestyle.
He said Ghana was rich in natural resources, yet it had been engulfed in poverty.
"We don't have good roads, potable water, hospitals and a lot more that I can't mention and yet we have it (natural resources) all," he said, adding that nation needed leaders imbued with the spirit of God to govern so that resources would not be misused.
He charged Christians to help keep the environment clean and also use proper channels to address issues in order to avoid conflict.
The anniversary celebration was under the theme: "Press towards the goal".
