Ghana to make changes, Gyan sits out

Asamoah Gyan will sit out of Ghana's international friendly against Brazil in London on Monday. Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic has confirmed that the Sunderland striker would be rested as he recovers from a slight thigh injury. Stevanovic, whose side drew 1-1 with England at Wembley in March, says he would ring the changes after Friday’s African Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland to give other players a chance and hopes to get a result. “[Asamoah] Gyan not playing is a big problem for us … and Brazil will be the favorites,” Stevanovic said. “But we have a chance. Why not? We got a very good result against England and I hope we can get another.” Gyan, has though expressed his disappointment of missing the game against Brazil. "I would have really wished to feature in this one but I totally understand what the medics are saying. It's fine by me and I will cheer the guys on," he said. Ghana, after their 2-0 win over the Swazis last Friday have maintained their unbeaten record in the campaign and have lost just one of their last nine matches, giving hope that, the Black Stars can beat Brazil for the first time. "Yes, it (victory over Swaziland) has provided us with a real lift ahead of the game with Brazil. We wanted to get that game done first and we achieved what we planned," Ghana defender John Paintsil said. "Now, we are filled with confidence and it is always good when you feel this way going into big games. They are a good side and one of the best but so are we."
