Four persons have been confirmed seriously injured in an accident involving an Accra-bound train and a private security patrol vehicle near the Kotoka International Airport.
While an eye witness account claims the train heading from Tema to Accra crashed into a pickup truck containing some state security officials on the rails, police sources say the injured were security personnel who could have been resting on the rails.
When contacted, a source at the airport police confirmed there had been an accident but could not immediately tell the nature and cause of the accident.
The train is said to have crashed into the patrol vehicle on the Accra-Tema rail line at about 7pm Wednesday.
Acting Police Director of Public Affairs, DSP Cephas Arthur says one of the injured victims is in a critical condition.
