A middle-aged man suspected to be an Ivoirian refugee has been strangled to death near the Ampain refugee camp in the Western region.
It is not clear what triggered the incident and officials are investigating the death.
The Ampain Camp Manager, Kelly Forson told Joy News the incident has generated some panic among refugees but says there is adequate security at the camp.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that he was killed, he was strangled. We are trying to establish whether he is an Ivorian or even a refugee in our camp.
"Unfortunately, we’ve not been able to identify him, but everything around him indicates that he is an Ivorian.”
He said the body has been deposited at the Axim Hospital morgue.
