Ghana’s leading telecommunication provider, MTN has supported this year’s Kundum festival of the chiefs and people of the Axim Traditional Area of the Western Region with cash and assorted items.
MTN presented a cheque of GH¢3,000.00, recharge cards worth GH¢500, a drinks hamper and assorted souvenirs to show their support towards the celebration of this year’s Kundum.
In addition to the donation of cash and other items, MTN would be sponsoring the grand durbar, state dance/Miss Kundum, community football gala and regatta as part of efforts by the company to make the celebration very exciting for the members of the community as well as visitors from within and outside the country.
Mr. Samuel Appiah, Senior Manager for Western and Central business districts, presenting the items on behalf of the staff and management of MTN Ghana, acknowledged the company’s appreciation of the Chiefs and people of Axim for their continued support and loyalty to the MTN brand since its entry in Ghana. He added that the support is a demonstration of the strong relationship that exists between MTN and the good people of Axim.
“Our success as a business could not have come about without healthy relationships with our cherished subscribers. We will endeavour to provide world-class products and services to meet the needs of our valued customers,” he said. He also recounted the socio-economic benefits of festivals saying they display the country’s rich culture and history to the outside world.
Mr. Appiah informed the people about MTN’s month long programme dubbed ‘iFest’ throughout September. The “iFest” initiative was recently launched to drum home the need for Ghanaians to increase their use of the internet. He said “this initiative is to drive awareness on internet usage and MTN data packages”.
He further urged them to take advantage of the recently launched MTN Business which offers tailor-made ICT solutions to Small and Medium scale Enterprises to boost their businesses. He reminded the people of Axim about Mobile Number Portability (MNP) and encouraged them to join the number one network in Ghana in order to enrich their lives with best offers from MTN and also ensure that their SIM cards are registered before the September 30th deadline.
The occasion was also used to wish the Omanhene of Lower Axim Traditional Area and President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Awulae Attibrukusu III a happy 50th birthday celebration.
Receiving the items, Awulae Attibrukusu III, thanked MTN Ghana for their support for the people of Axim over the years especially during the celebration of their festival and particularly for the birthday gift presented to him and assured MTN of their support as they build even stronger relationships.
The Kundum Festival is celebrated by the chiefs and people of Axim in commemoration of the achievements and gallantry of their ancestors and to thank God for the abundance of food to mark the end of famine in the land .
