The Eastern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has averted a possible clash between Muslim leaders and the headmistress of Islamic Girls Senior High School at Suhum.
The elders had asked the GES to either remove Madam Sherifatu Adama Haruna in a week or they would be compelled to remove her from the school under emergency exit for what they termed as gross disrespect to them and their religion.
The Suhum Council of Muslim chiefs and the entire leadership of Suhum Muslim community accused the acting headmistress of the Islamic Girls Senior High school for alleged mismanagement and showing gross disrespect to Muslims.
But Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer at the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Asiedu Acheampong says the regional director and security chiefs met the factions in a bid to find lasting solutions to the impasse.
Mr. Asiedu Acheampong said all the factions involved in the matter have agreed to allow the headmistress to continue her duties.
