Environmental protection is engaging the attention of youth groups in Kumasi churches, as part of a holistic ministry to reach out to local communities.
Over the weekend, the youth ministry of the Church of Pentecost at Aprade embarked on a tree planting programme under the motivating banner of “Forest: Nature at Your Service”.
With the support of the Member of Parliament for the area, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Water Resources Commission, the group planted 400 trees in the community.
Youth president, Christian Brew, said the initiative is part of the group’s contribution to halt deforestation, noting that Ghanaians have a responsibility to preserve forest and water resources.
The Singles and Young Adult ministry of the International Central Gospel Church, Royal Temple also reached out to the Adubinso Biseasekese community in the Kwabre East District of Ashanti with a tree planting and health programme.
President of the Ministry, Eric Adu Boateng told Luv News the exercise is a demonstration of the practicality of Christianity in the ultimate drive to evangelize the community.
He said “influencing society through Christ” requires that Christian leaders meet the social, environmental and economic needs of the community.
