The Member of Parliament for Talensi, Mr John Akolgo Tia has appealed to government to create an enabling environment that would attract investors to the three northern regions.
He said there were a lot of investment opportunities in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
He cited some of the investment opportunities as the mining industry in the Upper East Region, economic trees such as the sheanut and dawada and the abundant rocks.
Mr Tia said one of the means of addressing poverty in the area was through policies that would encourage investors to come to the area.
"Attractive policies need to be introduced to entice more people especially Africans in the Diaspora."
The MP said migration of the youth from the three northern regions to the south could be curbed if investors created jobs in the area.
He also appealed to the government to adopt a pragmatic approach to the revamping of the Zuarungu Meat Factory to open up job avenues for the area’s unemployed youth.
