AEL Mining Services has awarded scholarships to 12 needy but brilliant students in the Prestea/Huni Valley District.
The students, who received 600 Ghana cedis each, were selected from second cycle institutions and will have access to this package annually till they complete their Senior High School education.
Mr. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, the District Chief Executive for Prestea Huni/Valley District, urged the scholarship holders as well as students in the district to refrain from social vices.
Mr. Glyn Rees, the Managing director for AEL Mining Services West Africa, said the scholarship holders were selected from the six circuits in the district and are for 2009 and 2010 academic year.
He said the company is yet to select students for the 2011 academic year.
Mr. Rees said the company was prepared to liaise with the assembly to facilitate the development of the district.
