The Madina District Police Command has stepped up its crime awareness education drive to rid the area of criminal activities.
The District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) David Eklu who was on one of such educational programmes addressed the Madina branch of the Ghana Electronic Servicing Technician Association (GESTA), where he cautioned the members to be circumspect with suspicious characters who patronise their services.
He said some people commit crime through the connivance of technicians’ especially electronic technicians and asked the Association to be vigilant to report such nefarious activities to the police.
“You should be proud of the profession you belong to and be truthful to your selves and the public, since criminals use desk top and laptop computers to steal,” he stressed.
CSP Eklu asked the technicians to keep good records of every electrical gadget they receive from clients for repairs.
Touching on safety, he asked the GESTA members to secure their workshops with very good locks and protect their keys against theft or duplication.
He asked them to insure their properties so that in an event of stealing or fire outbreak, they would be compensated for their losses.
He warned the technicians not to touch any item in their workshops when thieves break in since that would interfere with forensic crime investigations.
CSP Eklu said the emergency number of the police is 15888 and
asked the members to dial when they are in a distress situation or
want to report on crime for prompt assistance.
