Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has critisised the heads of National Security for publicly disagreeing on how to tackle the Agogo-Fulani crisis.
National Security Coordinator Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey told Joy News the Fulani herdsmen, who have been accused of causing chaos in Agogo had been given a 14-day ultimatum to vacate the area and that a special team had headed there to execute the forced eviction of nomads and their cattle.
But National Security Advisor, Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah contradicted Col. Gbevlo Larteey when he told Joy News later that he did not think the force eviction of the nomads would work. He proposed a law to restrict the movement of herds.
However, Mr Baako speaking on Peace FM’s news analysis programme Kokrokoo Wednesday, regretted that the public disagreement between the two, saying it was an embarrassment to the two security chiefs themselves, the government and the nation.
He added that disagreements between security chiefs were not unusual but insisted those disagreements must not be made public.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere, Dan Kweku Botwe, also bemoaned the incident and stated that Gen. Nunoo Mensah had no business giving advice in public.
