Hip Life musician Atumpan, who is noted for, hit song “Small girl, you dont know the thing, am teaching you the thing, you’re playing with the thing” is now in the classroom for real.
Last Tuesday, at the Kaneshie Senior High Technical School (Kateco), Showbiz met Atumpan, in his jeans trousers and yellow long sleeve shirt, chalk in his hand, passionately going about his job teaching form 3 Senior High School students.
He told Showbiz that he had been at the school for the past eight weeks doing his one year internship as required of level 400 students of the University of Education Winneba where he is pursuing a Bachelor in English course.
He said that on the first day he reported at the school, “I was called Small Girl, by some of the students. Others called me the Thing and all sorts of names.
I got quite upset the first day but I knew I will gradually pick-up”. He said he had to make the students understand that he had come to teach and not to entertain them.
“Some of my students had obviously watched my performances but I have warned them that if I see any of them at a late programme or night club they will have to answer to me”.
Atumpan is a professional teacher with a Diploma in Basic Education from Wiawso Training College.
