Black Stars Coach Goran Stevanovic has served notice he would resign as coach if the Black Stars fail to play in the finals of next year’s Nations Cup. Depending on how the Stars lose in the final he might still resign, Plavi vowed at a packed press conference on Thursday, during which he officially outdoored the 25-man squad for the 2012 tournament. According to the Serbian coach, his only guarantee as Black Stars coach is for Ghana to win the Nations Cup or lose honorably, preferably via penalties in the final. The comments by Plavi were answers to blunt questions posed by one of the journalists at the conference. After parroting the need for the Black Stars, the Brazil of African football as he pointed out to win the Nations Cup, he was asked if he would consider resignation if he is not a champion, Plavi stated: “If you want me to, Yes,” but the journalist, not convinced, pushed further asking, “would you?” then he said: “You know what, I am thinking about it. If we don’t play in the finals, yes. If we play in the final it will depend, if we lose for example [through] a penalty then I don’t know, maybe if my people [GFA] say we are not satisfied then I will resign” the coach responded. The coach answered many other questions including why Richard Kingson was dropped and why Sammy Adjei and Quincy Owusu Abeyie failed to make the cut. According to him, Sammy Adjei only recovered from a sickness adding he preferred Derek Asamoah to Abeyie, even though the latter is not a bad player at all. Stevanovic officially named the players as follows; Goalkeepers Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Adjei, Ernest Sowah Defenders John Painstil, Samuel Inkoom, Daniel Opare, Massawudu Alhassan, Lee Addy, Isaac Vorsah, Jonathan Mensah, John Mensah, John Boye. Midfielders Derek Boateng, Anthony Annan, Jordan Ayew, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Abu Mohammed, Dede Ayew, Sulley Muntari, Charles Takyi, Kwadwo Asamoah. Strikers Asamoah Gyan, Prince Tagoe, Derek Asamoah, Emmanuel Baffour. Two players will be dropped before the team makes entry into Gabon and Equatorial Guinea where the competition is expected to take place
