The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has threatened to embark on a series of demonstrations across the country if government fails to subsidize fuel to bring down prices of petroleum.
Petroleum prices were increased late December after government had withdrawn subsidies on petroleum products in October last year.
According to the student body, living conditions in the country and on various campuses are becoming unbearable.
In an interview with Joy News, Friday, President of NUGS, Ayariga Osman Abdullai said prices of commodities and services have increased due to the increment of fuel prices.
According to him students are the most affected in the country since most of them need to transport themselves from one place to another for research on their chosen careers.
Mr. Ayariga Osman Abdullai said if government is not able to reduce fuel prices, the student body will advice itself and embark on strike actions against the government.
He said government is expected to care for the citizens and not to bring hardships on them.
"Government will [also] face legal actions if NUGS' demands are not met after 10 days," he emphasised.
