The Auditor General and the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament are on collision course over the controversial payment of GH¢58 million judgement debt to NDC financier Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
The Auditor General is seeking to correct parts of his final Audited Report on the Public Accounts of Ghana dealing with the payment of the controversial judgement debt.
He claims that only GH¢17 million, and not GH¢58 million was paid to Mr. Woyome in 2010.
But the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Kan Dapaah has told Joy News his committee will not accept the Auditor General’s amendments to his report when the committee begins its public hearings on the matter.
He explained that the Public Service Act makes the Auditor General’s report final and conclusive once it has been submitted to parliament. The committee is therefore bent on rejecting the amendments, he intimated.
Meanwhile, the minority NPP has stated time and again that Mr. Woyome was paid the entire amount in 2010.
It is even claiming very recently that an additional GH¢38m was paid to Mr. Woyome in 2011.
