The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has asked the Auditor General to go to court to amend details of the GHS58 million judgment debt paid to National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart, Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
According to the committee, the Auditor General must resort to the High Court if he wants to amend details of his report before Parliament regarding the payments to Mr Woyome.
The Auditor General is seeking to correct parts of his final audited report on the Public Accounts of the nation that deal with the payment of the controversial judgment debts.
He claims that only GHS17 million was paid to Mr Woyome and not GHS58 million as being circulated in the media.
The Auditor General said the payment of an additional GHS41 million captured in his own report to Parliament had been reversed but that correspondence on the reversal was overlooked during the audit.
Though the Public Accounts Committee is due to open public hearings on the report, its Chairman Albert Kan Dapaah says they cannot consider the amendments being pushed by the Auditor General.
