The NPP student wing is calling on President Mills to sack the man at the centre of the controversial GhS58 million judgment debt as Chairman of the National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI).
The KNUST branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP says failure to remove Alfred Woyome will only confirm public opinion about complicity of the President and the NDC in the matter.
The Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) submitted its report on Thursday to President Mills, after weeks of investigation into the judgment debt.
EOCO Executive Director, Mordey Akpadzi, says the NDC financier had no basis for making the claims which accorded him the money.
TESCON President at the KNUST, Nana Boakye, tells Luv News the latest development provides enough grounds for the President to terminate Mr. Wayome’s appointment to the NBSSI, to allow for smooth and unimpeded investigation.
“I fail to understand why Mr. Woyomi is still in office as Board Chairman of NBSSI. We are told that the last time he went to EOCO, he was in the company of national security officers and we simply cannot trust any transparent further investigation into the matter whiles he is still in government” he stated.
Some groups within the NDC, including the rival student wing have sought to justify the payment to Mr. Woyome, when state institutions have described as fraud.
Nana Boakye indicated members of TESCON are appalled by such posture.
