The Chief of Nakpanduri has promised to be a peace ambassador as peace trickle into the conflict-prone Northern Region town.
Naa Golbilla David Kansuk said a recent dinner event he organised for the chiefs and opinion leaders of the area is aimed at firming up his plans to achieve lasting peace for Nakpanduri.

Hundreds have lost their lives and several properties have been destroyed in the heat of that conflict in the township.
By the courtesy of Joy News’ documentary 'Bloody Land' which highlighted the cost of the conflict, peace was restored there.
They have vowed to never again use violence to settle their differences and the Chief of Nakpanduri is spearheading this crusade in other conflict communities in his area.

As a first step, he has succeeded in bringing combatants in these conflict-prone communities to dine together.

Naa Golbilla David Kansuk told Joy News he remains resolute in his quest to ensuring that the tag on the Northern Region as conflict area is changed.
“When combatants sit together to eat and drink and discuss and exchange ideas it soothes the hurt in people’s heart.

“So I thought if I bring all the chiefs and opinion leaders together to discuss how to keep the place peaceful, the Christmas festivities will come and pass without any incident,” he said.

He is convinced that the attendance at the event is a testament to the fact that they buy into his idea of letting peace reign.
“Luckily, the combatants themselves were present and had hearty discussions with people they are thought to be fighting that hitherto they do not see eye to eye," he said.
