Former Executive Director of Danquah Institute, Asare Otchere-Darko has put up a defense for the payment of TV license, saying it is relevant.
The leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) member in a Facebook post Tuesday, said the license is an "important good" that will reposition state broadcaster, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to better serve the nation.
But he has disagreed with the creation of the special court to enforce payment or punish individuals who will default in the payment.
Mr Otchere-Darko was reacting to the considerable public dissatisfaction that has followed the creation of a special court to prosecute TV license defaulters.

Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, set up the court based on a request made by GBC's Director-General Dr Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow in November last year.
Some Ghanaians have vehemently deplored the decision, saying they are ready to go to jail for non-payment of the license fees.
But while opposed to the special court, Mr Otchere-Darko said the license will help "GTV to serve us and their staff much better."
Meanwhile, he has challenged officials of GTV to concentrate their efforts "more on building the infrastructure that can help them to collect" the license.
"We should not be averse to paying TV license...Ask yourselves, when was the last time you received a demand notice at home or in the office over nonpayment of TV license?"
