The Police in Kumasi have arrested three ladies for beating a five-month pregnant woman to death at Adoato in Kumasi on Monday.
Two of the culprits have separately been identified as 24-year old Serwaa, and Sakina, 23, together with their yet-to-be named step-mother.
They were picked up as they attempted to escape after assaulting 28-year-old Rosemary Dadzie over the payment of electricity bills, resulting in her death on the way to hospital.
Nathaniel Kwaku Sam, husband of the deceased, is shocked at the tragedy after he had calmed nerves earlier in the morning when the misunderstanding began before he left for work.
The couple tap electricity from the suspects with whom they live in a compound house.
According to sources close to the incident, Kwaku Sam gave his wife an amount of GHS6 to settle their bill on Sunday, which she dutifully handed over to Serwaa. However Satina later came demanding why she had not paid up, to which Rosemary retorted that she had settled her indebtedness.
But Serwaa and her mother disconnected the couple's lines, claiming what they paid was not enough, an action that resulted in the misunderstanding and eventually into fisticuffs.
Crime Officer at the Suntreso Police Command, ASP Nana Nkwantabisa, has told Nhyira News the three suspects will be arraigned after investigations.
The body has since been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
