The identity of the person, who died on Sunday after a chieftaincy clash at Ogblogo near Weija in the Greater Accra Region, has been revealed.
Nii Kwaku Obibini II, who had been banished from the community, was killed when he returned on Sunday.
He reportedly went back to the Oblogo Palace following a court order that granted him permission to do so.
However, he was chased out of the palace by angry indigenes who insisted he had been ordered not to return, Joy FM’s Francis Abban reported.
Francis said while the police say the chief was mobbed and beaten to death, an eyewitness also claimed to have heard sounds of gun shots.
Meanwhile, Greater Accra Minister Nii Afotey Agbo has visited the crime scene at Oblogo in the company of the Police Director of Operations, DCOP John Kudalor.
The minister reportedly continued to the accident centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where four other persons who sustained injuries during the attack are receiving treatment.
