The Korean government has established an information access center at the University of Ghana.
The Ghana-Korea Information Access Center was constructed at a cost of $500,000.
It consists of an internet lounge, IT training laboratory, five seminar rooms and an administrative office.
It is equipped with video conferencing facilities and wireless internet access.
The project is to create opportunity for the public to access information, raise IT literacy and promote IT cooperation between Ghana and Korea.
It also offers Ghanaians who want to learn more about Korea the opportunity to do so.
A professor of Library Studies at the University of Ghana, Professor Ellis Badu said it has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that educational institutions with access to technology perform better than those without it.
He debunked the notion that the philanthropic gesture from Korea had a hidden agenda and said Koreans naturally believe in giving especially in areas where they are blessed such as ICT.
The Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Kyun Jaemin said the gesture is meant to strengthen the already existing bond between Ghana and Korea.
The Deputy Minister for Communications, Ernest Attuquaye Armah urged good maintenance of the facility.
