The 2014 World Cup winner has revealed plans to make a trip to the country of his father
Germany and Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng will be making a trip to Ghana, the country of his father, for the first time.
Born to a Ghanaian father and a German mother in Berlin, the 29-year-old won the Fifa World Cup with Die Mannschaft in 2014.
“I have been to Africa but I didn’t go to Ghana," Boateng told DW.
"I will go there this summer with my daughters and family members."
Although yet to visit Ghana, Jerome, younger brother of Black Stars and Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Kevin-Prince Prince, holds the country dearly in his heart.
“The tattoo started when I was 16-year-old," Jerome said.
"I was with my two older brothers and they said 'today we are all going to do the same tattoo but don’t tell your mother'.
"So we all went and had our bodies tattooed.
"It was the continent of Africa with Ghana inside."
Jerome has over 60 caps so far for Germany.
In 2010, he and Kevin-Prince made history as the first brothers to play against each other at the Fifa World Cup.
They clashed for the second time at Brazil 2014.
