A 24-year-old labourer at Sefwi-Anwenase has been sentenced by the Bibiani Circuit Court to five years imprisonment for stealing a G-Tide mobile phone worth GH¢100.
DSP Raymond Erzuah, the prosecutor, told the court presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Ankamah, that Kofi Sackey, the labourer, was seen around 12 noon on April 12, boarding a bus at Sefwi that fateful day.He said Sackey's modus operandus was to quickly jump into off-loading buses at the Sefwi bus terminal and bolt away with anything he found. The driver, Patrick Kwarteng, through his vigilance, saw Sackey and alerted the pedestrians when Sackey took to his heels.DSP Erzuah said he was later arrested and arraigned before the Bibiani Circuit Court and charged with stealing. He pleaded guilty and the court sentenced him to five-years in hard labour.
