The police officer standing trial in the cocaine-turned-baking soda saga, DSP Gifty Mawuenyegah Tehoda, has been unconditionally discharged.
The court hearing the matter struck out the case for lack of evidence.
Principal State Prosecutor, Rexford Wiredu applied for unconditional discharge of DSP Tehoda at an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday afternoon.
Citifmonline.com, reports that counsel of the police woman, Oliver Dzeble, said the defence made a specific request for express commitment that DSP Tehoda will not be rearrested.
The Ghana Police Service interdicted her in respect of the matter.
After the court's decision, her lawyer told Joy News' Evans Mensah that DSP Tehoda must be reinstated since she was discharged unconditionally.
Mrs Tehoda was arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations on allegations that she played a key role in a case in which cocaine exhibit in the custody of the police and later the court, turned into baking soda.
She was alleged to have connived with the prime suspect in the cocaine swap scandal and was granted bail and re-arrested many times over the matter.
