A five-hour rainstorm which hit the northern regional capital Tamale on Thursday killed one person and displaced hundreds of residents.
The storm also destroyed properties running into thousands of Ghana cedis.
The one person who died reportedly drowned while trying to assist his neighbour who had been affected by the floods.
The rainstorm accompanied by strong winds, destroyed houses, electric poles and uprooted several trees in the metropolis.
Two cars packed closer to a tree were destroyed by the tree which was uprooted during the heavy downpour.
Roads in parts of the region also became immotorable as trees collapsed in the middle of the roads.
Electricity supply to parts of Tamale was disrupted as major poles connecting electricity to those areas were badly affected during the storm.
Most of the affected persons were women.
One woman who had her properties washed away made a passionate appeal to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to come to her aid.
NADMO officials in the metropolis are yet to visit the affected persons.
Meanwhile, resident of Gumani have appealed to authorities to construct storm bridges and big gutters in the community to help bring a lasting solution to the perennial flooding in the area.
