Felix Sakyi, a primary three pupil of the Seventh Day Adventist Preparatory School in the Sunyani Municipality, allegedly hanged himself on Wednesday evening when his grandmother, whom he was staying with, went out for a funeral.
According to a cousin who gave her name as Portia Berko, she was in the house with Felix the whole day since he did not go to school.
She stated that Felix only went out to see his off his mother who came to the house to visit them.
Before his mother left, she asked him to go with her to Seikwa where she stayed for the weekend since his other siblings where going with her, but the deceased refused because he said his clothes were dirty.
Portia further explained that Felix went out again to buy Kenkey and eggs for a meal after seeing his mother off but after eating, he was not seen again until their grandmother returned from the funeral around 5:00pm only to find him hanging in the room and shouted for help.
Portia said Felix had not been to school for the past week but had not shown any sign that there was something wrong with him. Felix Sakyi, according to family members, was the first of two children.
Portia said they informed the police about the death and the police came for the body to be deposited at the morgue.
