The President of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Dr Ahmad Ahmad has added his voice to calls for Kwesi Nyantakyi to seek re-election as Ghana Football Association President in 2019.
The Ghana FA boss has on three different occasions stated his readiness to not seek another term when his current tenure expires next year. But several leading members of the GFA have urged him to have a change of mind and contest again.
And the Madagascan has backed those calls by advising Nyantakyi to continue leading the local football governing body.
“If the government, if people ask him to continue, then why must he stop? The people need him, the stakeholders need him so why must he not contest again," Ahmad told Starr FM.
“We are here to serve our Nation and service to your country comes first and so I will advise him to seek re-election.”
Nyantakyi has been at the helm of affairs since 2005. If he rescinds his decision, he will face off with his former vice George Afriyie in the polls.
