Techimantia Methodist Primary and Sepe Tinpom M/A Primary have qualified to represent Brong Ahafo (B.A) and Ashanti Region respectively for the Milo U13 National finals billed for 20-23 June at the Paa Joe Park in Kumasi.
Twelve schools registered their participation for both regions but at the end of the competition, it was Techimantia and Sepe Tinpom who qualified in zone two for the final annual competition.
The schools who had to battle it out for supremacy were Effiduase Presby Primary, Bompata D/A, Primary, Watreso D/A Primary, Otaakrom Islamic Primary Sepe Tinpom M/A and Amoari Methodist Primary for the Ashanti Region and Brong Ahafo schools consisted Ken Hammer Prep. School, Techimantia Methodist Primary, Wamfie Presby Primary School, Konadu Basic School, Gulupe Saeed Primary and Krekuase D/A Primary.
The next phase of the tournament takes off in Cape Coast for the Zone three matches at the Adisco Park from 30 May - June 1 whilst Koforidua hosts the zone four matches at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana, New Tafo from 6 - 8 June.
Teams from the Central and Western Region would be grouped in zone three, with the final zone consisting of teams from Greater Accra, Volta and the Eastern Region.
The 2018 edition of the Milo Champions League (MCL) would have 48 schools competing in these four zones, from which 10 top schools would qualify and advance to the finals.
Each school would represent each of the 10 Regions of Ghana, where awards and prizes including “Best Player” and “fair play team” would be given to deserving competitors. Over 20,000 school children are expected to participate in the tournament this year.
The MCL is Nestlé Ghana’s way of demonstrating its purpose of “enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future," as stated by its MD at the launch of the event.
Through the MCL, School children learn values such as respect, teamwork, determination, and focus, which shape them into active sports personalities and accomplished professionals in the future.
