Deputy Works and Housing Minister has challenged real estate developers to be innovative and use local materials to drive down the cost of houses.
Freda Prempeh said this would make home acquisition more affordable and hence contribute to bridging the housing deficit in the country.
She made the call at the launch of this year’s Multi tv Habitat Fair in Accra.

The Deputy Minister also commended Multi tv on the role the event was playing at meeting the housing needs of Ghanaians.
Madam Prempeh further stressed the need for estate developers to employ local material to cut down their production cost.
This according to the Deputy Minister will make home acquisition more affordable and hence contribute to bridging the housing deficit in the country.

She said, "We hide behind infrastructure to say houses cant be affordable but it can be affordable if we inculcate our local raw materials into the housing industry, try to be creative and tap into new technologies."

The Multi TV Habitat Fair, which is set to come off in August 2018, will bring together experts and companies in the housing sector to proffer solutions to the housing needs of Ghanaians.
From land sale to paintings and fitting and complete homes, all will be available at the fairgrounds.
