The First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has through the Rebecca Foundation donated medical equipment ranging from hospital beds to complete delivery systems to the Krachi-West Government Hospital in the Volta Region.
The presentation was done by Akosua Newman of the Rebecca Foundation and supported by the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Maxwell Blagogee and DCE for Krachi-West, Hon. Osei-Nti Douglas.
The equipment included three Complete Delivery Systems, 25 boxes of advance wound dressing material, five Hospital Beds, 16 boxes of dressing charge irrigation trays, patient medical tables and 25 boxes cardinal health hydrocolloid dressing.

It also included Surgery Drain Bags, an Instant Warmer System, an Anesthesia Super Circuit Pack, Eye Protection packs, Primary IV Sets, Secondary IV Sets, IV Start Kits and differing sizes of Vicryl Sets etc.
Presenting the items, Mrs Newman emphasized how technology has the power to make health care more accessible, by making it cheaper, easier to reach, and easier to understand.
She said, “just as access to health care continues to remain fragile, it’s especially important to explore the ways that technology can get better health care to more people”.
She was confident that, the items donated will add-up to ongoing efforts that have in recent times culminated in an increase in better healthcare provision and hoped that it will change the balance of forces that have hitherto kept this key sector in penury.”
Dr. Hilarius Abiwu, Medical Superintendent who received the items on behalf of the Krachi West District Hospital was grateful for the immensely beneficial gesture and called for more of such interventions.
