The British Council will be honouring and celebrating a cross-section of the nation’s most promising women in social enterprise, at the second edition of the 40 Under 40 Awards on 13 October 2018.
The spotlight will be on women in social enterprise who are committed to business growth, professional excellence and social impact in Ghana.
The 2018 Women in Social Enterprise Award nominees are:
1. Victoria Akosua Yirenkyi (Storage Foundation)
2. Phillippa Prempeh (She Community Ghana)
3. Israella Mansu - (MGL Naturals-Mansuki Ghana Limited)
4. Elsie Azelikumah Asieme (Elasiem Enterprise)
5. Akua Obenewaa Donkor (Decokraft)
According to Sydney Hushie, Partnerships, Skills and Enterprise Lead at the British Council, “social enterprises tackle social and environmental problems. They create jobs and generate income like other businesses, but instead of channelling their profits to owners, they reinvest them to support their social mission.
In doing so, they are improving people’s lives in our communities, creating jobs, creating wealth and improving societies.”
The Event organizers, Xodus Communications assured the Council on the sustainability of the award and the credibility in the selection process.

The British Council which is UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, promotes the development of social enterprise and social investment to help foster a more sustainable, inclusive and prosperous future.
It does so by providing social entrepreneurs with access to training, business consulting and mentoring opportunities, access to funding and investment opportunities, study tours and international exposure.
