Torrential rains that lasted barely an hour have submerged homes and displaced many in Koforidua in the Eastern regional capital.
The heavy rains forced many residents to abandon their homes for fear of being drowned. The rains at worst hit areas like Abrewa Nkwanta, Nsukwa, Koforidua Zongo, Effiduase and Abrewa Nkwanta.

Residents were seen salvaging their household appliances and other properties. The floods have also taken over the main streets, causing heavy traffic.
Some drivers who are unable to drive through the flood turned to use alternative routes. The flooding was worsened by choked gutters, which has blocked the flow of water.
School children are either lifted or made to board big vehicles before they could go to their destinations.

Ghana is experiencing a minor rainy season, which has seen the destruction of properties from the North down to the South. Torrential rains last Wednesday in Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, weakened a 10-meter wall overlooking the Sofoline Interchange project. It finally collapsed.
In the Upper East, rains have destroyed farms and displaced residents. But the worst form of the flooding there has come from the spillage of a dam in neighbouring Burkina Faso.
The spillage of the Bagre dam has severely impacted livelihoods in the region where agriculture is the main economic activity.
