Thirty-one people have now been confirmed dead with several others in critical condition following an accident involving a Bolgatanga bound metro mass bus and a Benz bus on the Tamale-Bolga stretch of road.
The accident happened when the metro mass bus driver in an attempt to swerve a tricycle collided with an oncoming Benz bus from the Tamale Bolga section of the road which resulted in the fatal accident.
Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale teaching hospital, Dr Ken Sagoe confirmed the number of fatalities to Joy News.
Out of the 31, 18 of them are males whilst 13 are females, including a seven-seven year old girl.
A couple who just had their wedding last week was also involved in the accident with the wife losing his life. The husband survived but still on admission at the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Meanwhile Northern Regional Minister, Moses Bukari Mabengba who visited the Tamale Hospital has called on law enforcement agencies on the country’s roads to work to ensuring that traffic regulations are fully enforced.
He also called on citizens of the country to be vigilant when they use public transports.
