The family of the late Volta Regional Minister Henry Ford Kamel is expected to meet with government officials today to discuss his funeral arrangements.
Mr Kamel died yesterday, December 25 at the Jasikan government hospital after a short illness.
His body was immediately flown to Accra and deposited at the 37- Military Hospital Morgue.
A close friend of the late Kamel, Captain George Buta told Joy News’ Nana Adjei Essuman he was utterly shocked by the death because only on Sunday he was with the late minister at a party in the Volta Regional capital, Ho.
“On Sunday there was a party and a stakeholders forum and he came to speak to us; soon after he went home, we joined him for lunch. Unfortunately he couldn’t stay long with us and had to go and rest so I thought he looked a bit tired. [Tuesday] morning I heard he’d been taken ill so we tried to organise a helicopter to go and pick him to the 37 Military Hospital and as the arrangements were going on, within a matter one-and-a-half or two hours, we got word that he couldn’t make it,” Captain Buta narrated.
Propaganda Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress, Mr. Richard Quashiga eulogized the late Kamel as a perfect gentleman who couldn’t offend anyone.
