A leading member of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) Abubakar Ramadan has launched his campaign in his quest to contest the National Youth Organiser position of the Convention Peoples Party (PNC).
Abu Ramadan believes it is time to revive the Youth Wing of the PNC by rebuilding, rejuvenating and strengthening the youth in the party, hence his decision to contest the position.
Prior to his campaign launch, Abu Ramadan picked up nomination forms at the party headquarters in Accra and also presented a banner with the image of Dr. Hilla Limann, founder of the PNC and President of the third Republic of Ghana to the leadership of the party as a sign of inspiration for the party.
He explained that the motive behind his presentation was to honour Dr. Hilla Limann as part of the 32nd anniversary of his (Dr. Limann) overthrow which fell on September 24, 2011.
The PNC youth activist called for the celebration of Dr. Hilla Liman, Ghana, as a national hero who also contributed immensely to the development of the Ghana as president of the third Republic.
On what he intends to do if voted for as the National Youth Organiser of the PNC, Abu Ramadan promised to revitalize the Tertiary Institutions Functionaries of PNC (TERIF), the students wing of the party in all tertiary institutions across the country before the 2012 general elections.
He hopes to organize open forums and educating the youth on the various University campuses on the policies and programmes of the PNC to enhance the membership base.
Abu Ramadan noted that through interim to long term programmes with regular training and refresher courses on the political tradition and ideology of the PNC to the young and energetic party faithfuls, the party can enhance its chances of securing the mandate to man the affairs of the nation.
“Ghana does not only need a third force aside the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) but a political party with Nkrumahist beliefs and tradition with an enviable political and election record” he added.
Mr. Ramadan attributed the party’s dwindling electoral fortunes to the lack of organisation at the youth level and the inability to reach out to the grassroots and Ghanaians at large. He therefore promised to work assiduously to ensure that the situation is corrected to secure the needed votes for PNC in 2012.
Abu Ramadan implored the delegates of the PNC to vote massively for him in order to build a vibrant Youth Wing for the party ahead of the 2012 elections.
Meanwhile, the National delegates congress of the PNC is scheduled for November 25-27 in Sunyani to elect a flag bearer to lead the party to the 2012 general elections.
