Access Bank, the 2016 Euromoney ‘Africa's Best Bank Transformation’ has improved its position at the 15th edition of the Ghana Club 100 ranking, moving 39 places from the previous year to be the 14th most prestigious company in Ghana.
The ranking is evidence of Access Bank’s continuous improvement in its operations, supported by significant investments in key areas of its business to offer superior banking service to customers.
Under the auspices of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the ranking uses three main criteria; size of the company, growth and profitability to arrive at the club 100 list.
The Ghana Club 100 is a yearly official list of the top 100 companies in Ghana who have excelled in growing their business operations in the year under review.
The ranking was first held in 1998 by the GIPC, with the aim of recognising the top 100 companies, encouraging competition and improvement of company products and services. Companies that made it to this list served as role models for the private sector.
In attendance as Special Guest, the President John Dramani Mahama used the occasion to congratulate companies who made it to the ranking and encouraged the need to promote made in Ghana products.
The ceremony also witnessed the presence of key industry players, diplomats, ministers, chiefs and key influencers in the Ghanaian economy.
Leading the Access Bank delegation to receive the Club 100 plaque was the Executive Director of Operations and I.T, Mr Kameel Adebayo.
Commenting on the Bank’s ranking, the Managing Director of Access Bank, Mr Dolapo Ogundimu dedicated the award to the Bank’s numerous customers who continue to entrust the growth of their business into the operations of the Bank.
He reiterated that this milestone will further boost the Bank to achieve its strategic objective of being Ghana’s Most Respected Bank and being ranked among top-tier banks in Ghana.
“Our current ranking indicates that we are on the right track and we are confident that our positioning in the Club 100 offers several opportunities for the overall well-being and value to our teeming customers,” Mr Ogundimu added.
In her welcome address on the theme “Manufacturing: Steering Ghana’s Development,” the C.E.O of GIPC, Mrs Mawuena Trebarh said, “This year’s theme is supportive of the exponential growth in manufacturing investments into Ghana since 2013."
"The Centre recognises the role of the private sector in the developmental agenda of the country and acknowledges the sector’s contributions and efforts to nation building,” she added.
Over the last few years, Access Bank has built an acknowledged reputation for service excellence in the Ghanaian banking sector.
The Bank has also stepped up its programmes and initiatives towards financial inclusion and women empowerment, training more than 5,000 women entrepreneurs and young professionals.
